Established on May 18, 1970, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has not only realized the vision of its founders by adopting Bahasa Melayu as the language of education and scholarship, but it has also successfully cultivated intellectuals and scholars who stand as sources of national pride.

Originally comprising three faculties, UKM has expanded over the years to include 13 faculties and 13 distinguished research institutes. This growth is not only quantitative but also qualitative, as UKM has elevated its status to that of a prominent research institution across various disciplines, operating diverse research centers.

Acknowledging the evolving landscape of academia, UKM is proactively addressing these changes. One such initiative involves embracing e-learning to equip students with innovative teaching methods and a forward-looking curriculum that aligns with the demands of the contemporary economic landscape. Concurrently, UKM fosters research endeavors aimed at providing solutions to pressing challenges, actively engaging with the community and industry, and striving for sustainable development at both national and international levels.
